Movie memage borrowed from Jaquandor:
- Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
There are actually quite a few of those: the original Star Wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy, the first four Star Trek movies, Casablanca, Highlander, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Top Gun, An American Werewolf in London, and Footloose all come to mind. Probably American Graffiti, too. Probably the 1953 version of War of the Worlds. I’m sure there are others… - Name a movie that you’ve seen multiple times in the theater.
The original Star Wars trilogy and the Indiana Jones movies. More recently, Sin City. - Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
John Cusack always seems to pick interesting projects, and I find him immensely likable. - Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
Adam Sandler. Can’t stand the guy. Doesn’t matter what he’s in, if his name is in the credits, I avoid it. He could have a three-second cameo in a Star Wars movie that stars Sean Connery, Bruce Campbell (two of my favorite actors), and a resurrected Elvis Presley, and I’d still have to think long and hard about giving up any of my hard-earned cubits because they might find their way back to his checking account. - Name a movie that you can and do quote from.
Star Wars. Duh. But also most of the others listed under item #1. - Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.
N/A. I do not know all of the lyrics to all of the songs from any movie musical. I do not care for movie musicals, with the exception of Singin’ in the Rain, which is actually a pretty cool flick. But cool or not, I still don’t know the lyrics to all of its songs. - Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
Tricky, since we just established that I’m not big on musicals. Footloose, I guess… - Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
The World’s Fastest Indian. A delightful, sweet-natured, feel-good movie that kind of flew under the radar last year. It’s character-driven, features a sterling performance from Anthony Hopkins, and it was filmed right here in Utah. - Name a movie that you own.
I own hundreds… off the top of my head (and trying for something I’ve not yet mentioned), Almost Famous. - Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Mark Wahlberg. Whoever thought that Marky Mark would re-invent himself as a non-annoying character actor specializing in blue-collar regular guys? I think I’ve liked every acting performance I’ve seen him give. - Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
Yes, but not for many years. I think the last drive-in I saw was a double-feature of Adventures in Babysitting and Can’t Buy Me Love. - Ever made out in a movie?
Yes. Refer to the item above. - Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t yet gotten around to it.
Again, there are many… To Kill a Mockingbird came up recently in a conversation with someone. - Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes, The Great Dictator. I’ve loved every other Chaplin film I’ve ever seen, but this one was a crushing bore and a huge disappointment. - Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
Revenge of the Sith. - Popcorn?
Of course. - How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
For a while, The Girlfriend and I were going once a week without fail. In the last few months, though, we’ve scaled back to about twice a month. - What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
Music & Lyrics. - What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
I pretty much like everything (except musicals… see item # 6), but I get an extra kick from science fiction flicks, especially spaceship-based SF flicks. Love those spaceships… - What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
I have a very dim memory of seeing The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams with my mom and great-grandmother at the old Murray Theater on State and Vine when I was a wee lad, but the first I have a strong memory of was (can you guess?) Star Wars. - What movie do you wish you had never seen?
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, because it breaks my heart to think that POS may possibly be the final title on Sean Connery’s filmography. - What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Hm. Well, define weird Because there’s Man with the Screaming Brain weird, and then there’s Apocalypse Now weird. I enjoyed both of those, albeit for very different reasons. - What is the scariest movie you’ve seen?
The Shining always gives me the willies. So does The Silence of the Lambs. - What is the funniest movie you’ve seen?
A three-way tie between The General, Young Frankenstein, and National Lampoon’s Vacation.
